Details
The Oyster 82 was the flagship of the Oyster range from her launch in 2004 until that of the Oyster 100 in 2011, and the largest yacht Oyster built during that time. Drawn by Rob Humphreys, the 82 is very much a distillation of his previous Oyster designs and, like them, was designed and engineered for effortless long-distance cruising. Elegant and refined, the 82 is beautifully balanced, 240-mile days become a reality, and while big and powerful, the 82 is also capable of being handled by a small crew or couple.
Rob Humphreys made full use of the deck space available to split the cockpits into working and lounging areas, the forward cockpit area is secure and well protected, a sociable relaxation area with large cockpit tables offering 'al fresco' dining. The working cockpit is aft of this with twin helm positions, winches, and sail control systems positioned for ease of use. All were launched as cutters, with powerful overlapping genoa, and staysail for stronger conditions.
Below decks, almost all 82s have the raised saloon, which works beautifully at this size, and allows panoramic views while seated from the saloon/dining area. It also allows easy access to the cockpit and a spacious area below for engine and machinery. Down a few more steps are the galley and lower snug with its own table and TV. The magnificent owner's stateroom is aft, with two en-suite guest double cabins. Crew accommodation is forward, giving great separation and privacy. The 82 is both an accomplished bluewater family cruiser and a successful charter yacht. Seventeen were launched in total.
TILLYMINT is a 2006 example, hull 06, and has been in her present ownership since 2012, with the same skipper looking after her throughout that time. The current has chartered her on a few occasions but not since 2014 since which she has enjoyed family use only. TILLYMINT has remarkable mahogany joinery and cabin soles, complimented by very light soft furnishings, giving a truly luxurious and timeless feel. She also benefits from a thorough ongoing maintenance regime with great continuity of care.
A superb choice for the Oyster World Rally, TILLYMINT would be equally at home as a comfortable family cruiser, with charter potential if required. An early viewing is recommended.
